One thing some tutoring academies market to families is so-called “for credit” classes. Please be cautious when considering any “for credit” offerings from tutoring academies, private programs, or online schools.
While these programs may claim that students can earn “class credits,” in most cases these credits do NOT count toward GPA or graduation requirements unless there is explicit approval from the student’s public high school—and such approval is rarely granted.
Before enrolling in any For Credit Classes or GPA Booster Programs, always speak with your high school counselor first to confirm whether the course will be officially recognized.
There are proper ways
to fix GPA and Course Rigor
There are several effective ways to increase your GPA and course rigor for college applications.
While it is ideal to address this before entering high school—especially if a student earned less than an A in middle school Algebra 1 or a foreign language—there are still effective steps that can be taken from 9th through 12th grade to strengthen both GPA and course rigor beyond the traditional path.
